Helpdesk Analyst/I.T Support Technician

Job Role;
To work in-house on our helpdesk answering technical support questions from
our SME clients. Work involves both telephone and remote access support to
Microsoft servers and desktops, troubleshooting problems with systems and
networks. Scheduled access to servers to check proper operation of backup
software (NTBackup, Retrospect, Arcserve) and general health of networks.

Requirements
Good knowledge of Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, TCP/IP
networking, configuration of ADSL routers, wireless access points, TCP/IP
printers, etc. Configuration of Outlook and other email programs. Maybe
already at MCP level.

Excellent organisational skills and telephone manner.

Must be comfortable working in a small business environment.

Desirable
Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003, hardware and software VPNs,
exposure to Mac OS X, Microsoft Terminal Services.

Hours
Either

Fulltime Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week, times flexible within reason.

Or
Part-time: 2-3 days a week.

We are very open to someone joining us on a part-time basis to fit around
University/college studies or a return to work type scenario.

Location
Chew Stoke, about 8 miles from Bristol and Bath

Pay
Circa £16k depending on applicant

Other information
For the right applicant there is an excellent opportunity to make a start in a
company that will expose them to many new technologies including Voice
Over IP, IP CCTV, VPNs, building servers and PCs and progression to field
engineering role and then consultant role in time.

Both informal on the job training and formal, external training with vendors,
such as Microsoft, will be available and there will also be the opportunity to
join a Modern Apprenticeship and/or other NVQ level training.
